SUMMER CAMP POLICIES

Transferring from One Camp to Another
Subject to availability, summer campers may request to transfer to a camp on an earlier date at any time or to a later 2025 summer camp with no fees or penalties up to two weeks prior to the start date of the camp in which the student is currently enrolled. A 25% transfer fee will be assessed for transfers made within the 14 days prior to the current camp start date.

To request a transfer to another camp, send an email to ClientServices.MUSEO@outlook.com detailing which camp(s) you wish to transfer to/from. Camp transfers will not be processed after the start of the currently enrolled camp.

Canceling/Withdrawing From Camp for Any Reason (including failure to pass daily health screening)

  • UP TO 3/1/2025: Provide notification of withdrawal via email to ClientServices.MUSEO@outlook.com no later than 2/28/2025. The standard 25% cancelation fee will be waived. A 5% admin fee will automatically be deducted from all refunds. Refunds are subject to terms of the Buddy Family Discount when applicable.

  • UP TO 30 DAYS PRIOR TO CAMP START DATE: Cancelation/withdrawal from a camp is subject to a 25% cancellation fee. Notification of withdrawal must be provided via email to ClientServices.MUSEO@outlook.com no later than 30 days prior to the scheduled camp start date/time to cancel and receive a refund, less the 25% cancelation fee.

  • UP TO SEVEN DAYS PRIOR TO CAMP START DATE: Refund will not be issued for a cancelation/withdrawal made within the 30 days prior to the camp date. A credit, less the 25% cancellation fee, will be applied to the student’s account when the notification of cancelation/withdrawal is received via email to ClientServices.MUSEO@outlook.com no later than seven days prior to the camp date. The credit may be applied toward a future class or camp and is void after 90 days if not used.

  • WITHIN THE SEVEN DAYS PRIOR TO CAMP START DATE: Credit will not be provided and 100% of payment will be forfeited for a drop within seven days of camp start date/time or after, or for a "no show".

CAMP FAQs

You've got questions, we've got answers! Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about our camps. If you have a question that is not covered on this list, feel free to contact us via the email and phone number listed below.

How does a half-day and a full-day camp work?

  • A half-day camp is either a morning camp running from 9am-12pm, or an afternoon camp running from 1-4pm. Throughout the summer each half-day camp focuses on a primary medium, such as Painting, or Sculpting.

  • We offer half-day camps throughout the school year as well but for those, the focus changes to either 2D camps (drawing, painting, printmaking) or 3D camps (clay, sculpture, fiber arts).

  • Each half-day camp includes a daily (approximate) 20 minute snack break (often taken at Confluence Park, weather permitting).

  • A full-day camp is simply the combination of two half-day (morning and afternoon) camps. In addition to two 20-minute snack/play breaks, a Noon - 1pm supervised indoor lunch hour add-on is available (meals not included).

  • The exception to this is our full-day Pottery camps, which run 9am-4pm on select Fridays during the summer and on select holidays and school breaks throughout the school year. Full-day Pottery camps will have the same number of breaks as a full-day camp schedule but the day will be spent working entirely with clay. Half-day options are not available for the Pottery camps.

Do you serve lunch?
No, we do not serve food, nor do we have any food available for students at our facilities. If your child is staying for the lunch hour (Noon-1pm), please pack a nut-free lunch for your child, or else they will be very sad and hungry!

What do campers do at lunch?
Along with eating their packed lunch, campers can play a variety of games and socialize with new-found friends.

Do campers go outside at all?
Yes, weather permitting, we take an approximate 20- to 30-minute mid-morning break in our 9am-12pm camps, and an approximate 20- to 30-minute mid-afternoon break in our 1pm-4pm camps to go to a nearby park, eat packed snacks if desired, and run out some energy. A full-day camp includes both breaks, morning and afternoon.

Where is the park?
It's an approximate 5-minute walk to Confluence Park from our studio. The park has a playground, water fountains, and restroom facilities. We follow strict safety protocols while at the park and walking from/to our studio. Campers are closely supervised by several MUSEO team members at all times.

Do I need to pack a snack?
Yes. Please! (We find that campers can get a little grumpy without their snacks.) If your child is attending a half-day camp, they will have one snack break; if attending a full-day, they will have two snack breaks in addition to the lunch hour. Please pack accordingly or your little one may be very sad watching the others eating snacks without them.

What is the typical routine each day?
Morning Camps

  • 8:50 AM - 9:00 AM, Curbside drop-off

  • 9:05 AM - 10:15 AM, Intro/Ice-breaker, Project time (includes clean-up)

.......

.......
Afternoon Camps
Please Note: Your child must be enrolled in the Lunch Hour in order to sign in prior to 12:50 PM. Full-day campers will be signed into the afternoon group by their lunch-hour supervisor.

  • 12:50 PM - 1:00 PM, Curbside drop-off

  • 1:00 PM - 2:15 PM, Intro/Ice-breaker, Project time (includes clean-up)

  • 2:15 PM - 2:45 PM, Activity break at Confluence Park (weather permitting)

.......
Full-Day Pottery Camps follow this same schedule with the exception of an afternoon drop-off.

What is "Mixed Media"?
The term Mixed Media refers to the combination of more than one medium in a single piece of art. Following this premise, our Mixed Media camps provide campers with an opportunity to work with a wide variety of materials! This might include painting, drawing, sculpting, collage, printmaking, fiber arts, metalworking, and more! Take a look at some examples of projects from past Mixed Media camps here.

What discounts are available for camps?

  • Sibling/family discount - 10% off each additional student's enrollment from the same family

  • Multiple camp discount - 10% off each additional camp enrollment of equal or lower price per student

  • Buddy family discount - up to $40 savings on a Mon-Thu camp, up to $20 on a full-day Pottery camp

  • Full-day discount - the amount equal to the same week lunch hour add-on will be split 50%-50% and applied equally to AM and PM camps only, up to $30 per camp (Pottery camps excluded)

Note--Discounts may not be combined.

How does the Buddy Family Discount work?
Your family can use our Buddy Family Discount to save up to $40 per camp when signing up with friends from separate families. Just mention the first AND last names of your buddy/buddies when you sign up so that we can cross-reference your accounts. Once BOTH families have enrolled their students, the appropriate discount (or refund) will be applied to each account.

What type of shoes should my child wear to camp?
Sneakers are recommended (ideal for walking to/from and playing at the park). Preferably no sandals and please no flip flops!

May I stay and watch?
We ask that parents refrain from remaining in the classrooms once camp begins. We've learned over time that, despite best intentions, having a parent in with their student disrupts the focus of the class/camp. Parents are welcome to stay nearby (in the hallway or our lobby within earshot) for as long as you need for your child to feel comfortable.

What if we miss a day?
If you know in advance that your student will be missing a particular day of camp, please communicate that directly to your instructor so that they may plan your student’s projects accordingly. Missed days cannot be credited or made up.

Can someone else pick up my child for me?
Yes, but if that person is not on your family's account information, we need written permission from you before it happens. Don't fret! This is simple and can be done online in seconds! Fill out our Permission to Pick Up Form here, or find it under our "Student Resources" tab at the top of our website.

When do campers get to take their artwork home?
With the exception of the Pottery camps, which have creations that need to dry for several days and then be fired in a kiln, campers will be able to take all their artwork home on the last day of camp.

For Pottery camps, it will take about 3 weeks to properly go through the process of thoroughly drying the projects and then firing them. We will send out a follow-up email letting you know when your items are finished and ready for pick-up at our studio.

We hope these have been helpful! Have more questions that weren't answered here? Feel free to email us at ClientServices.Museo@outlook.com or give us a call at 425-391-0244.
